Are There Building Code Approvals?
Icynene® is one of the most extensively tested insulation materials on the market today in many different categories: fire, emissions, sound transmission, energy performance, etc. Many U.S. governmental research organizations have participated in the evaluation process on Icynene®.
In the US, we have a product evaluation report from the ICC Evaluation Service under the report number ESR-1826. This evaluation report is effective nationwide and any jurisdiction that adopts the ICC code in the U.S. will generally accept this report. Other U.S. evaluation institutes that have evaluated Icynene are the NAHB Research Center, the Oak Ridge National Laboratories, Texas Tech University, and the Florida Solar Energy Center.
In an attic, Icynene® LD-C-50 is the only spray foam insulation approved to be sprayed to the vertical wall surfaces and the underside of the roof deck, without a prescriptive ignition barrier and be compliant with the 2009 International Building Code .
Building codes exist to protect the consumer's safety. Compliance assures not only your safety but the likelyhood a fire related insurance claim will be validated, should the occasion arise.
