The History of Icynene®
Icynene® was invented in 1986 to replace closed cell foam which had health issues related to mold and out gassing of formaldehyde and other volatile organic compounds (VOC).
Icynene® is 100% water blown, open-celled foam weighing ½ pound per cubic foot that does not produce harmful emissions that can compromise indoor air quality. Open cell simply means when the bubbles in the foam are formed they burst; closed cell does not. Icynene® will make your house Healthier, Quieter, More Energy Efficient®.
Icynene® Physical Properties
- It is an air barrier (40% of all energy lost is the result of air leakage)
- It is flexible and will not break the air seal when your building shifts
- It idoes not absorb water.
- It will drain water leaks by gravity, and then it will self-dry without deforming
